森もりに あめが ふりはじめました。Rain began to fall in the forest.

はっぱの 上うえに、あめの つぶが おちてきます。Raindrops fell onto the leaves.

ぴちょん ぴちょん、ぽとん ぽとん。Pitter patter, plip plop.

ことりの ことねちゃんが、まどから 外そとを 見みました。Kotone the little bird looked outside from the window.

「あめの 音おと、聞きこえる？」"Can you hear the sound of the rain?"

たぬきの たろすけくんが、大おおきな はっぱの下したで、たいこを たたくように 答こたえます。Tarosuke the little raccoon dog answered, tapping like a drum under a big leaf.

とんとん、とんとん。Tap tap, tap tap.

ぴちょん ぽとん、とんとん。Pitter, plip plop, tap tap.

音おとが かさなって、やさしい うたに なりました。The sounds joined together into a gentle song.

ことねちゃんも たろすけくんも、うたを ききながら まぶたが とろん。Kotone and Tarosuke listened to the song, their eyes growing heavy.

音おとは だんだん 小ちいさくなっていきます。The sounds became smaller and smaller.

ぴちょん…ぽとん…とんとん…。Pitter... plip plop... tap tap...

森もりは しずかに ねむりに つきました。The forest quietly fell asleep.
