こうまのフウくんと ひつじのモモちゃんFuu the Little Horse and Momo the Sheep

むかしむかし、みどりの丘おかに 子馬こうまのフウくんが すんでいました。フウくんは 茶色ちゃいろの たてがみが 自じまんの、元気げんきな 子馬こうまです。Once upon a time, on a green hill, there lived a little horse named Fuu. Fuu was a cheerful little horse who was very proud of his brown mane.

丘おかの下したには ひつじのモモちゃんが すんでいました。モモちゃんは ふわふわの まっ白しろな 毛けが 自じまんの、やさしい ひつじです。At the bottom of the hill, there lived a sheep named Momo. Momo was a gentle sheep who was very proud of her fluffy white wool.

フウくんと モモちゃんは、とても 仲なかよしでした。毎日まいにち いっしょに 丘おかを かけまわったり、たんぽぽの 花はなを あつめたりして あそんでいました。Fuu and Momo were very good friends. Every day, they would run around the hill together and collect dandelion flowers.

ある 日ひの 夕方ゆうがた、フウくんと モモちゃんは 丘おかの てっぺんで 夕やけを ながめていました。One evening, Fuu and Momo were watching the sunset from the top of the hill.

「今日きょうも きれいな 夕やけだね、モモちゃん」"What a beautiful sunset today, Momo."

「うん、オレンジ色いろが とっても きれいだね、フウくん」"Yes, the orange color is so pretty, Fuu."

やがて 空そらが 暗くらくなり、お星ほしさまが ひとつ、ふたつ、みっつと 輝かがやきはじめました。Soon the sky grew dark, and stars began to twinkle one by one.

「そろそろ おうちに 帰かえろうか」"Shall we go home now?"

フウくんが そう言いったとき、二人ふたりの 前まえに 小ちいさな 光ひかりが ポトンと 落おちてきました。Just as Fuu said that, a tiny light fell down in front of them with a soft plop.

「わあ、何なにかな？」"Oh, what could that be?"

モモちゃんが そっと 近ちかづいてみると、それは 小ちいさな お星ほしさまでした。お星ほしさまは 弱々よわよわしく 光ひかりりながら、しくしくと 泣ないていました。When Momo gently came closer, she saw it was a tiny little star. The star was glowing weakly and crying softly.

「どうしたの、お星ほしさま？」"What's wrong, little star?"

フウくんが やさしく たずねました。Fuu asked gently.

「お空そらから 落おちてしまったの。おうちに 帰かえりたいよう」"I fell from the sky. I want to go home."

お星ほしさまは かなしそうに 答こたえました。The star answered sadly.

「大おおへん。どうにかして お空そらに 返かえしてあげなくちゃ」"Oh no. We have to help you get back to the sky somehow."

モモちゃんが こまった顔かおで 言いいました。Momo said with a worried face.

「でも、お空そらは とっても 高たかいよ。どうやって 返かえしてあげれば いいんだろう？」"But the sky is so high up. How can we help you get back?"

フウくんも 考かんがえこんでしまいました。Fuu thought hard about it too.

すると、モモちゃんが ぱっと ひらめきました。Then Momo had a bright idea.

「そうだ、丘おかの てっぺんからなら、お空そらに 近ちかいよ。そこまで お星ほしさまを はこんであげよう」"I know! The top of the hill is closer to the sky. Let's carry the star up there."

「それは いい考かんがえだね」"That's a great idea."

フウくんが うなずきました。Fuu nodded.

「でも、お星ほしさまは 歩あるけるかな？」"But can the star walk?"

フウくんが 気きになって お星ほしさまに たずねると、お星ほしさまは 小ちいさな 声こえで 言いいました。When Fuu asked the star, the star said in a small voice.

「わたし、つかれちゃって 歩あるけないの」"I'm too tired to walk."

「じゃあ、ぼくの せなかに のって」"Then climb on my back."

フウくんは やさしく こしを かがめて、お星ほしさまを せなかに のせました。Fuu gently bent down and let the star climb onto his back.

「あったかい。ありがとう、フウくん」"So warm. Thank you, Fuu."

お星ほしさまは うれしそうに 言いいました。The star said happily.

二人ふたりと お星ほしさまは、夜よるの 丘おかを のぼりはじめました。夜よるの 森もりは 暗くらくて、少すこし こわい 気きもちが しました。The two friends and the star began climbing up the hill at night. The forest at night was dark, and it felt a little scary.

「フウくん、暗くらくて こわいよ」"Fuu, it's dark and scary."

モモちゃんが ふるえながら 言いいました。Momo said trembling.

「だいじょうぶだよ、モモちゃん。ぼくが そばに いるから」"Don't worry, Momo. I'm right here with you."

フウくんは モモちゃんの そばに ぴったりと よりそいました。Fuu stayed close to Momo's side.

すると、フウくんの せなかの お星ほしさまが、ほんの 少すこしだけ 明あかるく 光ひかりりました。Then the star on Fuu's back began to glow just a little brighter.

「わあ、お星ほしさまが 道みちを てらしてくれてる」"Look, the star is lighting the path for us."

モモちゃんの 声こえが 明あかるく なりました。Momo's voice became cheerful.

「えへへ、少すこしだけなら、光ひかりれるよ」"Hehe, I can shine just a little."

お星ほしさまは てれくさそうに 言いいました。The star said shyly.

お星ほしさまの 光ひかりに てらされて、二人ふたりは 森もりの 中なかを すすんでいきました。Lit by the star's glow, the two friends made their way through the forest.

とちゅうで、ふくろうさんが 二人ふたりに 声こえを かけました。Along the way, an owl called out to them.

「こんな 夜よるおそくに、どこへ 行いくのかね？」"Where are you going so late at night?"

「お星ほしさまを お空そらに 返かえしてあげるんです」"We're helping this star get back to the sky."

フウくんが 答こたえました。Fuu answered.

「それは りっぱなことだね。気きをつけてね」"That's a wonderful thing to do. Take care."

ふくろうさんは やさしく うなずきました。The owl nodded kindly.

やがて、二人ふたりは 丘おかの てっぺんに たどりつきました。夜空よぞらには たくさんの お星ほしさまが きらきらと 輝かがやいています。Finally, they reached the top of the hill. The night sky was filled with many stars twinkling brightly.

「ここなら、お空そらに 近ちかいね」"From here, we're closer to the sky."

モモちゃんが 夜空よぞらを 見上みあげて 言いいました。Momo said, looking up at the night sky.

「でも、まだ とどかないよ。どうしよう？」"But we still can't reach it. What should we do?"

フウくんが こまっていると、モモちゃんが また ひらめきました。While Fuu was thinking, Momo had another idea.

「わたしの せなかに フウくんが のって、その 上うえから お星ほしさまを なげあげるのは どうかな？」"What if Fuu climbs on my back and throws the star up from there?"

「でも、モモちゃん、おもくないかな？」"But Momo, won't I be too heavy?"

フウくんが しんぱいそうに たずねました。Fuu asked worriedly.

「だいじょうぶ。おともだちの ためなら、がんばれるよ」"I'll be fine. I can do anything for my friend."

モモちゃんは にっこりと わらいました。Momo smiled warmly.

モモちゃんが しっかりと 足あしを ふんばり、その せなかに フウくんが そっと のりました。フウくんは お星ほしさまを りょうまえ足あしで そっと かかえました。Momo stood firmly on her legs, and Fuu gently climbed onto her back. Fuu carefully held the star with his front legs.

「行いくよ、お星ほしさま。お空そらに 帰かえれるよ」"Here we go, little star. You're going home."

「うん、ありがとう、二人ふたりとも」"Thank you both so much."

お星ほしさまは うれしそうに ほほえみました。The star smiled happily.

フウくんが いきを 大おおきく すって、お星ほしさまを 空そらへと そっと なげあげました。Fuu took a deep breath and gently tossed the star up into the sky.

お星ほしさまは ふわりと うかびあがり、夜空よぞらへと のぼっていきました。のぼりながら、お星ほしさまは だんだんと 明あかるく 光ひかりりはじめました。The star floated up softly and rose toward the night sky. As it rose higher, the star began to glow brighter and brighter.

「やった、お空そらに 帰かえれたよ」"I made it! I'm back in the sky!"

お星ほしさまの 声こえが 空そらから 聞きこえてきました。The star's voice came from above.

「よかったね、フウくん」"I'm so glad, Fuu."

「よかったね、モモちゃん」"I'm so glad, Momo."

二人ふたりは うれしくて たまりませんでした。The two friends were overjoyed.

夜空よぞらの お星ほしさまは、一番いちばん 明あかるく 輝かがやいて、二人ふたりに おれいを 言いいました。The star in the night sky shone the brightest of all and thanked them.

「ありがとう、フウくん、モモちゃん。きみたちの やさしさ、わすれないよ。今日きょうから わたしは、きみたちの お星ほしさまだよ」"Thank you, Fuu. Thank you, Momo. I will never forget your kindness. From today, I am your special star."

二人ふたりが お星ほしさまに 手てを ふると、お星ほしさまも きらきらと 光ひかりって 答こたえました。When the two friends waved at the star, the star twinkled in reply.

「さあ、おうちに 帰かえろう」"Now, let's go home."

フウくんが 言いいました。Fuu said.

「うん、お母かあさんが まってるね」"Yes, our mothers are waiting."

モモちゃんも うなずきました。Momo nodded.

二人ふたりは 丘おかを くだり、それぞれの おうちに 帰かえりました。The two friends went down the hill and returned to their homes.

おふとんに 入はいると、まどから あの お星ほしさまが 見みえました。When they got into bed, they could see that special star from their windows.

「おやすみ、お星ほしさま」"Good night, little star."

「おやすみ、フウくん。おやすみ、モモちゃん」"Good night, Fuu. Good night, Momo."

お星ほしさまの やさしい 光ひかりに つつまれて、二人ふたりは すやすやと ねむりに つきました。Wrapped in the gentle light of the star, the two friends fell fast asleep.

そして きみも、お星ほしさまに みまもられながら、やさしい ゆめを 見みてね。And you too, may you have sweet dreams, watched over by the stars.
