もかと たけの こもりうたMoka and the Bamboo Lullaby

猫ねこの もかは、今日きょう お庭にわで、不思議ふしぎな 音おとを 聞ききました。「コトン、コトン」という 音おとです。Moka the cat heard a strange sound in the garden today. It went, "Tonk, tonk."

夜よるに なって、布団ふとんに 入はいっても、その 音おとが 耳みみに 残のこっていて、なかなか 眠ねむれませんでした。When night came and she got into bed, the sound still lingered in her ears, and she could not fall asleep.

もかは、隣となりで 丸まるくなっている お母かあさんに、そっと 尋たずねました。「あの 音おとは、なんの 音おとかな？」Moka gently asked her mother, who was curled up beside her, "What could that sound be?"

お母かあさんは、優やさしく 笑わらって、もかを 窓まどの そばへ 連つれていきました。外そとを 見みると、風かぜに 揺ゆれる 竹たけが、コトン コトンと 音おとを 立たてていました。「ほら、竹たけが 風かぜと お話はなしし しているのよ」Her mother smiled kindly and led Moka over to the window. Outside, the bamboo swayed in the wind, going tonk, tonk. "Listen, the bamboo is talking with the wind."

もかは、安心あんしんして、お母かあさんの そばに 戻もどりました。もう、怖こわい 音おとでは ありません。目めを 閉とじると、コトン コトンという 音おとが、優やさしい 子守歌こもりうたのように 聞きこえました。おやすみ。Moka felt safe and snuggled back close to her mother. It was not a scary sound anymore. As she closed her eyes, the tonk, tonk sound seemed like a gentle lullaby. Good night.
