ぽこと よるの おとPoko and the Nighttime Sound

ぽこは はりねずみの こどもです。夜よるに なると、ふとんの 中なかで じっと 耳みみを すませます。ある夜よる、コソコソという 音おとが きこえました。Poko is a baby hedgehog. At night, he lies in his blanket and listens carefully. One night, he heard a rustling sound.

「何なんの 音おとかな？」ぽこは 少すこし どきどきしながら、おふとんから 顔かおを 出だしました。まどの 外そとを 見みても、何なんも 見みえません。"What could that sound be?" Poko wondered, his heart beating a little fast. He poked his head out from the blanket. He looked out the window, but he could not see anything.

ぽこは お母かあさんの ところへ 行いきました。「お母かあさん、へんな 音おとが するの」お母かあさんは にっこり わらって、いっしょに まどの そばへ 行いきました。Poko went to find his mother. "Mom, there is a strange sound," he said. His mother smiled gently and walked with him to the window.

外そとを 見みると、風かぜに ふかれた おちばが、コソコソと おどっていました。「おちばが おどっていただけだったのね」ぽこは ほっと むねを なでおろしました。When they looked outside, they saw fallen leaves dancing in the wind, making a rustling sound. "It was just the leaves dancing," Poko said, and let out a relieved sigh.

お母かあさんに だっこされて、ぽこは ふとんに もどりました。あたたかい むねの 中なかで、ぽこの 目めは だんだん とじていきました。おやすみ。His mother held him close, and Poko went back to his blanket. Snuggled in her warm arms, his eyes slowly began to close. Good night.
