くまのこポコと おちばのふとんPoko the Bear and the Leaf Blanket

ポコは、森もりの中なかの小ちいさな家いえにすんでいるくまの子です。Poko lived in a small house deep in the forest, a little bear cub.

秋の夜よる、ベッドの中なかでなんども寝返りをうっても、なんだか眠ねむれません。まどの外そとから、つめたい風かぜの音おとが聞きこえてきます。One autumn night, Poko tossed and turned in bed but just could not fall asleep. From outside the window came the sound of a cold wind.

「外そとのおちばで、あったかいふとんを作つくってみようかな？」"Maybe I could make a warm blanket out of the fallen leaves outside?"

ポコはそっと家いえを出でて、森もりの道みちを歩あるきました。赤あかや黄色きいろのおちばが、じめんいっぱいに広ひろがっています。Poko quietly slipped out of the house and walked along the forest path. Red and yellow leaves covered the ground everywhere.

おちばをあつめていると、りすのマルがやってきてたずねました。「何なにをしているの？」While gathering leaves, Maru the squirrel came by and asked, "What are you doing?"

「あったかいふとんを作つくっているんだ」"I am making a warm blanket."

ふたりはいっしょにおちばをあつめて、大おおきなふかふかのふとんを作つくりました。中なかに入はいると、ぽかぽかとあたたかく、やさしいにおいがします。Together they gathered the leaves and made a big, fluffy blanket. Inside it felt warm and cozy, with a gentle smell.

「これならぐっすり眠ねむれそうだね」"I think we can sleep well with this."

ポコとマルは、おちばのふとんにくるまって、しずかに目めをとじました。森もりの夜よるは、しんとしずかで、やさしい風かぜがふいています。遠とおくで、ふくろうがそっと鳴ないています。Poko and Maru snuggled into the leaf blanket and quietly closed their eyes. The forest night was calm and still, with a gentle breeze blowing. Far away, an owl softly hooted.
