こぎつねの コンくんと ほしの きしゃLittle Fox Kon and the Star Train

秋あきの 夜よるでした。こぎつねの コンくんは、お母かあさんに だっこされて、あたたかい ベッドに 入はいりました。It was an autumn night. Little fox Kon was carried by his mother and tucked into a warm bed.

窓まどの 外そとには、きらきらした お星ほしさまが いっぱい 輝かがやいていました。「お母かあさん、お星ほしさまって、どこから 来くるの」と、コンくんは 眠ねむそうな 声こえで 聞ききました。Outside the window, sparkling stars were shining brightly. "Mommy, where do the stars come from?" Kon asked in a sleepy voice.

お母かあさんは 優やさしく 笑わらって、「お星ほしさまはね、夜よるの 空そらを 走はしる 不思議ふしぎな 汽車きしゃに 乗のって やってくるのよ」と 答こたえました。His mother smiled gently and said, "The stars come riding on a magical train that runs through the night sky."

コンくんは「星ほしの 汽車きしゃ」と つぶやきながら、とろんと 目めを 閉とじました。すると どこからか、ぽっぽー、ぽっぽー、という 優やさしい 音おとが 聞きこえてきました。Kon whispered "star train" and slowly closed his eyes. Then, from somewhere, he heard a gentle sound: choo-choo, choo-choo.

目めを 開あけると、コンくんは 雲くもの 上うえに 立たっていました。目めの 前まえには、金色きんいろに 輝かがやく 美うつくしい 汽車きしゃが 止とまっていました。When he opened his eyes, Kon was standing on top of the clouds. In front of him was a beautiful golden train.

汽車きしゃの 窓まどからは、やわらかい 光ひかりが もれていました。「こんばんは、コンくん。ぼくは 星ほしの 汽車きしゃの ポッポ。今日きょうは きみを 特別とくべつな 旅たびに 連つれていくよ」と、汽車きしゃが 優やさしい 声こえで 話はなしかけました。Soft light was glowing from the train's windows. "Good evening, Kon. I am Poppo, the star train. Today I will take you on a special journey," the train spoke in a gentle voice.

コンくんは 驚おどろきながらも、わくわくする 気持きもちで 汽車きしゃに 乗のりこみました。中なかは 星ほしの 光ひかりで いっぱいで、まるで 宇宙うちゅうの 中なかに いるみたいでした。Kon was surprised but excited, and he climbed aboard the train. Inside was filled with starlight, like being in outer space.

ぽっぽー、と けむりを はきながら、星ほしの 汽車きしゃは 空そらへ 向むかって 走はしりだしました。窓まどから 見みると、町まちの 明あかりが 小ちいさな 星ほしの ように きらきら していました。With a choo-choo and puffs of steam, the star train began running toward the sky. Looking out the window, the town lights sparkled like tiny stars.

しばらくすると、汽車きしゃは ふわふわした 白しろい 場所ばしょに 止とまりました。「ここは 雲くもの 駅えき。雲くもの 世界せかいの 案内係あんないがかり、フワちゃんが 待まっているよ」と、ポッポさんが 教おしえてくれました。After a while, the train stopped at a fluffy white place. "This is Cloud Station. Fuwa, the guide of the cloud world, is waiting for you," Poppo told him.

駅えきには、真まっ白しろな うさぎの フワちゃんが いました。「ようこそ、雲くもの 駅えきへ。これは 雲くもの わたあめよ。とっても 甘あまくて、食たべると 体からだが 軽かるくなるの」と、フワちゃんは 優やさしく わたあめを くれました。At the station was a pure white rabbit named Fuwa. "Welcome to Cloud Station. This is cloud cotton candy. It is very sweet, and when you eat it, your body becomes light," Fuwa said kindly, giving him the cotton candy.

コンくんが わたあめを 食たべると、ふわりと 体からだが 浮うかびあがりました。雲くもの 上うえを 歩あるくのは、まるで 大おおきな まくらの 上うえを 歩あるくみたいで、とても 気持きもちが よかったです。When Kon ate the cotton candy, his body floated up gently. Walking on the clouds felt like walking on a big pillow, and it felt wonderful.

次つぎに 汽車きしゃが 止とまったのは、虹色にじいろに 輝かがやく 駅えきでした。「ここは 虹にじの 駅えき。虹にじの 世界せかいの 魔法使まほうつかい、イロくんが いるよ」と、ポッポさんが 言いいました。Next, the train stopped at a station glowing with rainbow colors. "This is Rainbow Station. Iro, the wizard of the rainbow world, is here," Poppo said.

虹にじの 駅えきでは、七色なないろの 帽子ぼうしを かぶった 小ちいさな 魔法使まほうつかいの イロくんが 待まっていました。「コンくん、きみに 特別とくべつな おみやげを あげよう。この 虹色にじいろの 花はなびらを 持もっていると、悲かなしいときも 元気げんきになれるよ」と、イロくんは きらきらした 花はなびらを くれました。At Rainbow Station, a small wizard named Iro wearing a seven-colored hat was waiting. "Kon, I will give you a special gift. If you keep this rainbow petal with you, it will cheer you up even when you are sad," Iro said, giving him a sparkling petal.

コンくんは「ありがとう」と お礼れいを 言いいました。花はなびらは 手てのひらの 上うえで、赤あかや 青あおや 黄色きいろに 変かわって 光ひかりっていました。Kon said "thank you." The petal glowed on his palm, changing colors from red to blue to yellow.

汽車きしゃは さらに 高たかく 高たかく 登のぼっていきました。やがて、大おおきな 金色きんいろの 駅えきに 着つきました。「ここは 月つきの 駅えき。月つきの 森もりの 番人ばんにん、ミミズクの ツキさんが いるよ」と、ポッポさんが 言いいました。The train climbed higher and higher. Soon, they arrived at a large golden station. "This is Moon Station. Tsuki the owl, the guardian of the moon forest, is here," Poppo said.

月つきの 駅えきは、金色きんいろの 光ひかりで 満みたされていました。ツキさんは、大おおきな 目めを きらきらさせて コンくんを 迎むかえてくれました。「おや、小ちいさな 旅人たびびとさんだね。月つきの 森もりには、眠ねむっている 動物どうぶつたちの 夢ゆめが 集あつまっているんだよ」と、ツキさんは 教おしえてくれました。Moon Station was filled with golden light. Tsuki welcomed Kon with big sparkling eyes. "Oh, a little traveler. The moon forest is where the dreams of sleeping animals gather," Tsuki told him.

コンくんが 森もりを のぞくと、青あおく 光ひかりる ちょうちょや、銀色ぎんいろの しかたちが、静しずかに 歩あるいていました。「みんなの 夢ゆめが、ここで 遊あそんでいるんだね」と、コンくんは ささやきました。When Kon peeked into the forest, he saw glowing blue butterflies and silver deer walking quietly. "Everyone's dreams are playing here," Kon whispered.

やがて 空そらの 向むこうが、少すこしずつ 明あるくなってきました。「もうすぐ 朝あさが 来くるよ。最後さいごの 駅えきに 行いこう」と、ポッポさんが 優やさしく 言いいました。Soon, the sky beyond began to brighten little by little. "Morning is coming soon. Let us go to the final station," Poppo said gently.

汽車きしゃが 次つぎに 止とまったのは、うすもも色に 輝かがやく 駅えきでした。「ここは 朝焼あさやけの 駅えき。旅たびの 終おわりの 場所ばしょだよ」と、ポッポさんが 言いいました。The next station where the train stopped was glowing in a soft pink color. "This is Sunrise Station. This is where the journey ends," Poppo said.

朝焼あさやけの 駅えきからは、静しずかに 目覚めざめていく 町まちが 見みえました。「コンくん、楽たのしかったかな」と、ポッポさんが 聞ききました。From Sunrise Station, Kon could see the town quietly waking up. "Did you enjoy the trip, Kon?" Poppo asked.

コンくんは うなずいて、「うん、とっても 楽たのしかった。また 会あえる」と 聞ききました。ポッポさんは 優やさしく 笑わらって、「もちろん。夜よるに なって お星ほしさまが 輝かがやいたら、また 迎むかえに 来くるよ」と 答こたえました。Kon nodded and asked, "Yes, it was so much fun. Will I see you again?" Poppo smiled gently and answered, "Of course. When night comes and the stars shine, I will come to pick you up again."

コンくんは フワちゃんに もらった わたあめの ふわふわした 気持きもちと、イロくんに もらった 虹色にじいろの 花はなびらを 胸むねに 抱だいて、汽車きしゃを おりました。Kon held the fluffy feeling from Fuwa's cotton candy and the rainbow petal from Iro close to his heart, and got off the train.

あたたかい 光ひかりに つつまれながら、コンくんは ゆっくりと 目めを 閉とじました。次つぎに 目めを 開あけると、朝日あさひが 窓まどから 差さしこむ 自分じぶんの ベッドの 上うえでした。Wrapped in warm light, Kon slowly closed his eyes. When he opened them again, he was in his own bed with morning sunlight streaming through the window.

手てを 開あくと、手てのひらには 何なにも ありませんでした。でも、胸むねの 奥おくには、あたたかい 気持きもちが 残のこっていました。He opened his hand, but there was nothing in his palm. Yet, deep in his heart, a warm feeling remained.

コンくんは 朝焼あさやけの 空そらを 見上みあげて、小ちいさく 手てを 振ふりました。どこかで、ぽっぽー、という 優やさしい 音おとが 聞きこえた 気がしました。Kon looked up at the sunrise sky and gave a small wave. He thought he heard the gentle sound of choo-choo from somewhere.

そして コンくんは、また 次つぎの 夜よる、星ほしの 汽車きしゃに 乗のることを 楽たのしみに、元気げんきに 朝あさごはんを 食たべました。And so, Kon ate his breakfast cheerfully, looking forward to riding the star train again the next night.

夜よるに なって、お星ほしさまが 輝かがやいたら、今度こんどは きみも 星ほしの 汽車きしゃに 乗のれるかもしれないね。さあ、目めを 閉とじて、夢ゆめの 世界せかいへ 出発しゅっぱつしよう。おやすみ。When night comes and the stars shine, maybe you can ride the star train too. Now, close your eyes and set off to the world of dreams. Good night.
