ほしのはなばたけとゆきうさぎのユキYuki the Snow Rabbit and the Starflower Meadow

むかしむかし、静しずかな森もりの奥おくに、真まっ白しろな子こうさぎが住すんでいました。名前なまえは、ユキといいます。Once upon a time, deep in a quiet forest, there lived a snow-white little rabbit. Her name was Yuki.

ある夜よる、ユキはなかなか眠ねむれませんでした。窓まどの外そとを眺ながめていると、森もりの奥おくから、きらきらと光ひかるものが見みえました。One night, Yuki could not fall asleep. As she gazed out the window, she saw something sparkling in the depths of the forest.

「なんだろう、あの光ひか」"I wonder what that light could be."

ユキはそっとお家いえを出でて、光ひかの方ほうへ歩あるき始はじめました。やわらかい月明つきあかりが、ユキの白しろい体からだを照てらしています。Yuki quietly left her house and started walking toward the light. The soft moonlight was shining on her white fur.

森もりの中なかを進すすんでいくと、紫色むらさきいろのちょうちょがひらひらと飛とんできました。ちょうちょの羽はねは、星ほしの光ひかのように輝かがやいています。As she walked through the forest, a purple butterfly came fluttering by. The butterfly's wings were glowing like starlight.

「こんばんは。私わたしはスミレ。あなたも、星ほしの花畑はなばたけを探さがしているの？」"Good evening. My name is Sumire. Are you also looking for the Starflower Meadow?"

ユキはびっくりしました。星ほしの花畑はなばたけ、という不思議ふしぎな名前なまえを聞きいたことがなかったからです。Yuki was surprised. She had never heard of such a mysterious place called the Starflower Meadow.

「星ほしの花畑はなばたけって、どんなところ？」"What is the Starflower Meadow like?"

「お星ほしさまが落おちて、お花はなになったところよ。夜よるになると、お花はなが光ひかり出ですの。でも、最近さいきんは光ひかが弱よわくなってしまったの」"It is a place where stars fell and became flowers. At night, the flowers begin to glow. But lately, their light has grown weak."

スミレの声こえは、少すこし悲かなしそうでした。ユキはスミレと一緒いっしょに、星ほしの花畑はなばたけを探さがすことにしました。Sumire's voice sounded a little sad. Yuki decided to search for the Starflower Meadow together with Sumire.

二人ふたりは森もりを抜ぬけ、小ちいさな丘おかを越こえ、きらきら輝かがやく小川おがわを渡わたりました。小川おがわの水みずは、月つきの光ひかを映うつして、銀色ぎんいろに揺ゆれています。The two of them passed through the forest, climbed over a small hill, and crossed a sparkling stream. The water reflected the moonlight, shimmering in silver.

「もう少すこしよ」"Just a little farther now."

スミレが先さきに立たって、ふわりふわりと飛とんでいきます。ユキはスミレの後うしろを、ぴょんぴょんとついていきました。Sumire floated ahead, drifting softly through the air. Yuki hopped along behind her.

やがて、二人ふたりは広ひろい野原のはらにたどり着つきました。たくさんのお花はなが咲さいていますが、どのお花はなも、うつむいて沈しずんでいます。Soon, they arrived at a wide meadow. Many flowers were blooming, but all of them were drooping and looking down.

「ここが星ほしの花畑はなばたけ。でも、みんな元気げんきがないの」"This is the Starflower Meadow. But everyone has lost their energy."

スミレが悲かなしそうに言いいました。お花はなたちは、眠ねむっているように静しずかです。Sumire said sadly. The flowers were as quiet as if they were sleeping.

ユキはお花はなのそばに近ちかづきました。よく見みると、お花はなの花びらはなびらには、小ちいさな星ほしの模様もようがついています。Yuki walked closer to the flowers. Looking carefully, she noticed that each petal had tiny star patterns on it.

「お花はなさんたち、どうしたの？」"Dear flowers, what is the matter?"

ユキが優やさしく声こえをかけると、一番いちばん小ちいさなお花はながかすかに答こたえました。When Yuki spoke gently, the smallest flower answered in a faint voice.

「私わたしたち、疲つかれてしまったの。夜よるになると光ひかを出でして、みんなの夢ゆめを守まもっているの。でも、最近さいきんは力ちからが出でなくて」"We have grown tired. Every night, we shine our light to protect everyone's dreams. But lately, we cannot find the strength."

ユキは考かんがえました。どうすれば、お花はなたちを元気げんきにできるだろう。Yuki thought carefully. How could she help the flowers feel better?

その時、ユキはお母かあさんが歌うたってくれる、眠ねむりの歌うたを思おもい出でしました。疲つかれた時には、優やさしい歌うたが一番いちばんです。Then, Yuki remembered the lullaby her mother used to sing for her. When you are tired, a gentle song is the best medicine.

ユキはお星ほしさまを見み上あげて、そっと歌うたい始はじめました。Yuki looked up at the stars and began to sing softly.

「お星ほしさま、きらきら、空そらに輝かがやく。お花はなさん、きらきら、夢ゆめを守まもる。優やさしい光ひか、温あたたかい光ひか、みんなを包つつむ、眠ねむりの光ひか」"Stars above, sparkling bright, shining in the sky tonight. Little flowers, glowing true, guarding dreams for me and you. Gentle light, warm and kind, wrapping everyone in peace of mind."

ユキの歌声うたごえは、夜よるの空そらに優やさしく響ひびきました。スミレも一緒いっしょに、羽はねを震ふるわせて歌うたいました。Yuki's song echoed gently through the night sky. Sumire joined in, humming along as her wings trembled.

すると、不思議ふしぎなことが起おこりました。お花はなたちが、ゆっくりと顔かおを上あげ始はじめたのです。Then, something wonderful happened. The flowers slowly began to lift their heads.

一番いちばん小ちいさなお花はなが、ぽうっと光ひかり出でしました。その光ひかは隣となりのお花はなに伝つたわり、次々つぎつぎと広ひろがっていきます。The smallest flower started to glow softly. That light spread to the flower beside it, then to the next, and the next.

やがて、野原のはら一面が、やわらかな光ひかに包つつまれました。お星ほしさまみたいに輝かがやくお花はなたちは、ゆらゆらと風かぜに揺ゆれています。Before long, the entire meadow was wrapped in a gentle glow. The flowers sparkled like little stars, swaying softly in the breeze.

「ありがとう、ユキ。あなたの歌うたで、私わたしたち、元気げんきになれたわ」"Thank you, Yuki. Your song has given us our strength back."

お花はなたちが声こえをそろえて言いいました。その声こえは、鈴すずの音ねのようにきれいです。The flowers spoke together in unison. Their voices rang out like the chiming of bells.

スミレがユキのそばに飛とんできました。Sumire flew over to Yuki's side.

「すごいわ、ユキ。あなたの優やさしい心こころが、お花はなたちに届とどいたのね」"How wonderful, Yuki. Your kind heart reached the flowers."

ユキは照てれくさそうに笑わらいました。お花はなたちの光ひかが、とても温あたたかく感かんじます。Yuki smiled shyly. The light from the flowers felt so warm and comforting.

「さあ、そろそろ帰かえろうか。お母かあさんが心配しんぱいしているかもしれないから」"Well, I should head home now. My mother might be worried about me."

ユキがそう言いうと、お花はなたちがささやきました。When Yuki said this, the flowers whispered gently.

「待まって。お家いえまで、私わたしたちが送おくっていくわ」"Wait. Let us take you home."

すると、お花はなの光ひかが優やさしくユキを包つつみました。ユキはふわりと浮ういて、スミレと一緒いっしょに空そらを飛とび始はじめました。Then, the flowers' light wrapped gently around Yuki. She floated up into the air and began flying through the sky with Sumire.

森もりを越こえ、丘おかを越こえ、小川おがわを越こえて、ユキのお家いえが見みえてきます。窓まどからは、お母かあさんの明あかりが温あたたかく漏もれています。Over the forest, over the hill, over the stream, until Yuki could see her home. Warm light was glowing softly from the window, where her mother waited.

「ありがとう、スミレ。楽たのしい冒険ぼうけんだったね」"Thank you, Sumire. It was such a wonderful adventure."

「また、会あいに行くわ。おやすみなさい、ユキ」"I will come visit you again. Good night, Yuki."

スミレはひらひらと手てを振ふって、夜空よぞらに消きえていきました。お花はなの光ひかも、優やさしくほどけていきます。Sumire waved her wings and disappeared into the night sky. The flowers' light gently faded away.

ユキはそっとお家いえに入はいり、ふかふかのベッドにもぐりこみました。窓まどの外そとでは、星ほしの花畑はなばたけの光ひかが遠とおくに見みえます。Yuki quietly entered her house and snuggled into her fluffy bed. Through the window, she could see the distant glow of the Starflower Meadow.

「今日きょうは、素敵すてきな冒険ぼうけんだったな」"What a lovely adventure today was."

ユキはにっこり笑わらって、目めを閉とじました。頭あたまの中なかには、きらきら光ひかるお花はなたちが揺ゆれています。Yuki smiled happily and closed her eyes. In her mind, the glowing flowers were still swaying gently.

夜よるの風かぜが、そっと窓まどをなでていきます。お月つきさまが、優やさしくユキを見み守まもっています。The night breeze softly brushed against the window. The moon watched over Yuki with a gentle gaze.

静しずかな夜よるに、小ちいさなうさぎは、幸しあわせな夢ゆめの中なかへ。星ほしの花畑はなばたけが、ユキの夢ゆめを守まもっています。In the quiet night, the little rabbit drifted into happy dreams. The Starflower Meadow was guarding her dreams.
