ふくろうのヨルくんと よるのもりのぼうけんYoru the Owl and the Night Forest Adventure

昔むかしむかし、深ふかい森もりの中なかに、小ちいさなこぎつねのショウくんが住すんでいました。ショウくんは、昼間ひるまは元気げんきいっぱい遊あそびまわるのに、夜よるになるとなぜか眠ねむれなくなってしまうのが悩なやみでした。Once upon a time, in a deep forest, there lived a little fox named Shou. During the day, Shou would play energetically, but when night came, he somehow couldn't fall asleep. This worried him very much.

ある夜よるのこと、ショウくんがいつものようにおふとんの中なかでもぞもぞしていると、窓まどの外そとからやさしい声こえが聞きこえてきました。One evening, as Shou was tossing and turning in his bed as usual, he heard a gentle voice from outside the window.

「ホーホー、ショウくん、今日きょうも眠ねむれないのかい。」"Hoo-hoo, Shou, can't you sleep again tonight?"

窓まどの外そとを見上みあげると、大おおきなかしの木きの枝えだに、立派りっぱなふくろうがとまっていました。月つきの光ひかりに照てらされた、金色きんいろの目めをした、ふくろうのヨルくんです。Looking up through the window, he saw a magnificent owl perched on a branch of a big oak tree. It was Yoru the owl, with golden eyes that shimmered in the moonlight.

「ヨルくん、ぼく、目めをつぶってもつぶっても眠ねむれないんだ。どうしたらいいのかな。」"Yoru, I can't fall asleep no matter how many times I close my eyes. What should I do?"

ショウくんが困こまった顔かおでいうと、ヨルくんはやさしくほほえみました。When Shou said this with a worried face, Yoru smiled gently.

「それなら、今日きょうは特別とくべつな場所ばしょへ連つれていってあげよう。夜よるの森もりには、昼間ひるまは見みることのできない、すてきな秘密ひみつがたくさんあるんだよ。」"Then let me take you to a special place tonight. The night forest holds many wonderful secrets that you can't see during the day."

ショウくんは、ヨルくんの大おおきな羽はねにそっとつかまりました。ふわりと体からだが浮うかびあがると、二人ふたりは夜空よぞらへとまいあがっていきました。冷つめたい夜よるの風かぜが、ショウくんのほおをやさしくなでていきます。Shou gently held onto Yoru's big wings. As his body floated up softly, the two of them soared into the night sky. The cool night breeze gently brushed against Shou's cheeks.

「わあ、空そらを飛とぶってこんなに気持きもちがいいんだね。」"Wow, flying through the sky feels so wonderful."

ショウくんは、思おもわず声こえをあげました。下したを見みると、森もりがまるで緑色みどりいろのじゅうたんのようにひろがっています。Shou couldn't help but speak out. Looking down, the forest spread out like a green carpet below.

森もりの上うえをしばらく飛とんでいくと、くらやみの中なかに、きらきら光ひかりる小ちいさなあかりがたくさん見みえてきました。それは、むすうのほたるたちでした。まるで、空そらから落おちてきた星ほしのかけらのようです。As they flew above the forest for a while, they saw many tiny twinkling lights in the darkness. They were countless fireflies. They looked like pieces of stars that had fallen from the sky.

その中なかから、特別とくべつに明あかるく光ひかりるほたるが一匹いっぴき、二人ふたりのほうへ飛とんできました。Among them, one firefly glowing especially bright flew toward the two friends.

「こんばんは、わたしはピピ。夜よるの森もりの案内役あんないやくをしているの。あなたたち、どこへいくの。」"Good evening, I'm Pipi. I'm the guide of the night forest. Where are you going?"

ほたるのピピちゃんは、きれいな緑色みどりいろの光ひかりを放はなちながら、二人ふたりのまわりをふわふわと飛とびました。Pipi the firefly flew around them softly, giving off a beautiful green glow.

「ピピちゃん、この子こはショウくん。夜よるがこわくて眠ねむれないんだ。星ほしの泉いずみへ連つれていってあげたいんだけど、道案内みちあんないをおねがいできるかな。」"Pipi, this is Shou. He's afraid of the night and can't sleep. I want to take him to the Star Pond. Could you guide us there?"

ヨルくんがそういうと、ピピちゃんはうれしそうに光ひかりをちかちかさせました。When Yoru said this, Pipi flickered her light happily.

「もちろんよ。ついてきて。星ほしの泉いずみは、夜よるの森もりで一番いちばんすてきな場所ばしょなの。」"Of course. Follow me. The Star Pond is the most wonderful place in the night forest."

ピピちゃんに導みちびかれて、二人ふたりは森もりの奥おくへ奥おくへと飛とんでいきました。不思議ふしぎなことに、暗くらい森もりの中なかなのに、ピピちゃんの光ひかりがあるとこわくありません。Guided by Pipi, the two flew deeper and deeper into the forest. Strangely, even though it was dark in the forest, they weren't scared because Pipi's light was with them.

やがて、木きの間あいだからきらきらした光ひかりがもれてきました。森もりの真ん中まんなかに、丸まるい泉いずみがありました。その水みずは、夜空よぞらをうつした鏡かがみのように、星ほしの光ひかりをきらきらと反射はんしゃしています。Soon, sparkling light began to filter through the trees. In the middle of the forest, there was a round pond. Its water reflected the starlight like a mirror reflecting the night sky.

「すごい、星ほしが水みずの中なかに落おちてきたみたいだ。」"Wow, it looks like stars fell into the water."

ショウくんが目めを丸まるくして見みつめていると、ピピちゃんがやさしく教おしえてくれました。As Shou stared with wide eyes, Pipi gently explained.

「この泉いずみはね、空そらの星ほしたちが夜よるの間あいだだけ、お休やすみにくる特別とくべつな場所ばしょなの。星ほしたちもね、一日中いちにちじゅう光ひかりり続けるのは疲つかれるから、ここで体からだを休やすめるのよ。」"This pond is a special place where the stars from the sky come to rest during the night. Even stars get tired of shining all day long, so they rest their bodies here."

泉いずみのまわりを見みると、いろいろな動物どうぶつたちが静しずかに集あつまっていました。白しろいうさぎさんが葉はっぱの上うえにねそべり、たぬきさんが泉いずみの水みずを飲のんでいます。立派りっぱな角つのをもったしかさんも、目めを細ほそめて泉いずみを眺ながめていました。Looking around the pond, various animals had quietly gathered. A white rabbit was lying on some leaves, and a raccoon was drinking water from the pond. A deer with magnificent antlers was also watching the pond with half-closed eyes.

「みんな、ここにくると心こころが落おちついて、ぐっすり眠ねむれるようになるんだよ。」"When everyone comes here, their hearts become calm, and they can sleep soundly."

ヨルくんがそういうと、ショウくんも泉いずみのそばにそっとすわってみました。水みずの音おとがさらさらとやさしく聞きこえて、星ほしの光ひかりが体からだぜんたいをあたたかくつつんでくれるようでした。When Yoru said this, Shou also sat down gently by the pond. The gentle sound of water rippled softly, and the starlight seemed to wrap warmly around his whole body.

不思議ふしぎなことに、さっきまでの不安ふあんな気持きもちがすうっと消きえていきます。Strangely, the anxious feelings from before melted away.

「なんだか、とても気持きもちがいいな。体からだがふわふわするみたい。」"This feels so peaceful. My body feels like it's floating."

ショウくんの目めが少すこしずつとろんとしてきました。Shou's eyes began to grow heavy and drowsy.

そのとき、ヨルくんがショウくんのそばにおりてきて、やさしい声こえで語かたりかけました。Just then, Yoru came down beside Shou and spoke to him in a gentle voice.

「ショウくん、夜よるはこわいものじゃないんだよ。夜よるはね、みんながやすらいで、明日あしたへの力ちからをためる大切たいせつな時間じかんなんだ。きみが眠ねむっているあいだ、お月つきさまと星ほしたちが、やさしく見守みまもってくれているんだよ。」"Shou, night isn't something to be afraid of. Night is a precious time when everyone rests and gathers strength for tomorrow. While you're sleeping, the moon and stars are watching over you kindly."

ヨルくんの言葉ことばが、まるであたたかいおふとんのように、ショウくんの心こころにしみこんできました。Yoru's words sank into Shou's heart like a warm blanket.

「そうだったんだ。夜よるは、明日あした元気げんきに遊あそぶために休やすむ時間じかんなんだね。ぼく、夜よるが好すきになれそう。だって、こんなにすてきな場所ばしょがあって、こんなにやさしい友ともだちがいるんだもの。」"I see. Night is the time to rest so I can play energetically tomorrow. I think I can learn to love the night. After all, there's such a wonderful place here, and I have such kind friends."

ピピちゃんがショウくんのまわりをふわふわと飛とびながら、やさしく光ひかりりました。Pipi flew softly around Shou, glowing gently.

「いつでもまたおいでね。夜よるの森もりは、いつだってきみを待まっているわ。」"Come back anytime. The night forest will always be waiting for you."

ショウくんがうなずいたとき、体からだがふわりと軽かるくなりました。気きがつくと、ショウくんは自分じぶんのおふとんの中なかにいました。窓まどからは、やさしい月つきの光ひかりが静しずかにさしこんでいます。When Shou nodded, his body became light as a feather. When he opened his eyes, he was back in his own bed. Soft moonlight was quietly streaming through the window.

「夢ゆめだったのかな。でも、なんだかとてもあたたかい気持きもちが残のこっている。」"Was it a dream? But I still feel so warm inside."

ショウくんは、窓まどの外そとの空そらを見上みあげました。月つきがやさしくほほえんでいるように見みえます。遠とおくで、ホーホーとふくろうの鳴なき声こえが聞きこえたような気きがしました。Shou looked up at the sky outside his window. The moon seemed to be smiling gently. He thought he heard an owl hooting in the distance.

「ヨルくん、ピピちゃん、ありがとう。またあおうね。」"Thank you, Yoru. Thank you, Pipi. Let's meet again."

ショウくんは、やさしい気持きもちにつつまれながら、そっと目めをとじました。夜よるの森もりの星ほしの泉いずみが、夢ゆめの中なかで待まっています。Shou closed his eyes gently, wrapped in a warm feeling. The Star Pond in the night forest was waiting for him in his dreams.
