ほたると わたる よるの はしCrossing the Night Bridge with Hotaru

はやとが 布団ふとんに 入はいって 目めを 閉とじると、体からだが すうっと 軽かるくなりました。気きづくと、小ちいさな 星ほしが いちめんに またたく、夜よるの 海うみの 上うえに 浮うかんでいました。「ここは どこだろう？」はやとは そっと 手てを のばしてみました。When Hayato got into bed and closed his eyes, his body suddenly felt light. Before he knew it, he was floating above a sea of night, twinkling with countless little stars. "Where am I?" Hayato wondered, and gently reached out his hand.

そのとき、目めの前まえに 小ちいさな 光ひかが ふわりと 近ちかづいてきました。光ひかの 中なかには、小ちいさな ほたるが いました。「たすけてほしいの」ほたるは 困こまった 顔かおで 言いいました。「星ほしの 町まちに あかりを とどけなきゃ いけないのに、道みちが わからなくなっちゃったの」Just then, a small light drifted closer in front of him. Inside the light was a tiny firefly named Hotaru. "I need your help," Hotaru said with a troubled look. "I have to deliver light to the star town, but I've lost my way."

はやとは ほたると いっしょに 歩あるきだしました。雲くもの 道みちを すすんでいくと、目めの前まえに ぐらぐらと ゆれる 細ほそい 橋はしが あらわれました。橋はしの 下したには、まっくらな 谷たにが どこまでも 続つづいています。「わたれるかな？」はやとの 胸むねが どきどきしました。Hayato set off walking together with Hotaru. As they made their way along a path of clouds, a thin, wobbly bridge appeared before them. Below the bridge, a pitch-black valley stretched on endlessly. "Can I cross it?" Hayato's heart began to pound.

ほたるは 心配しんぱいそうに はやとを 見みあげました。はやとは 大おおきく 息いきを すって、一歩いっぽ、また 一歩いっぽと、ゆっくり 橋はしを すすみました。風かぜが びゅうと ふいても、足あしを 止とめずに 前まえを 見みつめました。とうとう、橋はしを わたりきりました。Hotaru looked up at Hayato with worry. Hayato took a deep breath and, step by step, slowly moved across the bridge. Even as the wind howled past, he kept his eyes fixed ahead without stopping. At last, he made it all the way across.

橋はしの むこうには、あたたかい 光ひかが ともる 星ほしの 町まちが ありました。ほたるが あかりを とどけると、町中まちじゅうの 星々ほしぼしが いっせいに きらきらと かがやきだしました。町まちの 人ひとたちは 手てを たたいて よろこびました。「ありがとう、はやと」ほたるは にっこり わらいました。On the other side of the bridge stood the star town, glowing with warm light. When Hotaru delivered the light, all the stars across the town began to twinkle at once. The townspeople clapped their hands with joy. "Thank you, Hayato," Hotaru said, smiling brightly.

はやとは 夜よるの 海うみを かえりながら、さっきまでの こわさが、そっと 消きえていくのを 感かんじました。こわい 橋はしも、ゆうきを 出せば わたれる。そう おもうと、なんだか 自分じぶんが すこし 大おおきくなった 気きが しました。はやとは そのまま、ゆっくりと 目めを とじました。おやすみ。As Hayato made his way back across the sea of night, he felt the fear from before quietly melt away. Even a scary bridge could be crossed with courage. Thinking that, he felt like he had grown just a little bigger. Hayato gently closed his eyes. Good night.
