The Boat That Sailed the Sea of Stars
One night, as Haruto closed his eyes, soft moonlight streamed in through his bedroom window. Slowly, the light began to take the shape of a little boat.
Come aboard," a voice like the moon seemed to whisper. Haruto quietly climbed into the boat. It floated up gently, drifted through the window, and sailed out into the night sky.
The boat glided smoothly across a sky that shimmered like an ocean of twinkling stars. Haruto felt the wind on his cheeks, and his heart filled with excitement.
After a while, he spotted a small star whose light flickered weakly. "What's wrong?" Haruto asked. The little star answered sadly, "I lost my way, and my light is about to go out."
The little star's name was Luna. Haruto let her aboard the boat, and together they set off to find her way home.
As they sailed on, thick fog began to gather around them. The boat could no longer see its way forward, and Luna's light grew weaker and weaker.
Haruto held Luna's tiny hand tight. "It's okay, I'm right here with you," he said. With those words, Luna's light slowly began to grow stronger.
When their courage joined together, a great light appeared beyond the fog. It was the glow of Luna's home.
Luna glowed with joy. "Thank you, Haruto," she said. All the stars sparkled at once, lighting up the night sky as if to celebrate.
Haruto waved goodbye to Luna and drifted home aboard his little boat. His eyelids grew heavier and heavier, until he was wrapped in soft, gentle light. Good night.
