ゆきのはなの おしろThe Castle Inside the Snowflake

ある 冬ふゆの 夜よるの ことでした。 女の子おんなのこの ユキは、窓まどから 外そとを ながめていました。 空そらから 真っ白まっしろな 雪ゆきが、ひらひらと 落おちてきます。 「きれいだなあ」 ユキは、大おおきな 雪ゆきの花はなを 手てのひらに 受うけとめました。It was a winter night. A little girl named Yuki was looking outside through the window. Pure white snow was falling gently from the sky. "How beautiful," she whispered. Yuki caught a big snowflake in the palm of her hand.

すると、不思議ふしぎなことが 起おこりました。 雪ゆきの花はなが、きらきらと 光ひかりはじめたのです。 まぶしい 光ひかに つつまれて、ユキの 体からだは どんどん 小ちいさくなっていきました。 気きがつくと、ユキは 透明とうめいな お城しろの 前まえに 立たっていました。Then, something magical happened. The snowflake began to sparkle and glow. Wrapped in brilliant light, Yuki's body became smaller and smaller. When she opened her eyes, Yuki was standing in front of a transparent castle.

壁かべも 床ゆかも 天井てんじょうも、ぜんぶ 氷こおりで できています。 お城しろの 中なかには、青あおい 光ひかが やさしく かがやいていました。 「ここは どこなの？」 ユキが きょろきょろ 見みまわしていると、小ちいさな 声こえが 聞きこえました。The walls, floor, and ceiling were all made of ice. Inside the castle, a soft blue light was shining gently. "Where am I?" she wondered. As Yuki looked around curiously, she heard a tiny voice.

「ようこそ、雪ゆきの花はなの お城しろへ」 ふりかえると、透明とうめいな つばさを 持もった 女の子おんなのこが 立たっていました。 体からだが きらきらと 光ひかっていて、まるで しずくの ようです。 「わたしは、しずくの精せいの シズク。このお城しろの 案内役あんないやくよ」 シズクは にっこり 笑わらって、ユキの 手てを とりました。"Welcome to the Castle of Snowflakes." She turned around and saw a girl with transparent wings standing there. Her body sparkled and glowed, just like a water droplet. "I am Shizuku, a spirit of water drops. I am the guide of this castle." Shizuku smiled warmly and took Yuki's hand.

「一緒いっしょに お城しろを 探検たんけんしましょう」 二人ふたりは 氷こおりの ろうかを 歩あるきはじめました。 壁かべには 不思議ふしぎな もようが えがかれています。 「これは 世界中せかいじゅうの 雪ゆきの 結晶けっしょうよ。一つ一つひとつひとつ 形かたちが ちがうの」 シズクが 教おしえてくれました。"Let's explore the castle together." The two of them began walking through the icy hallway. Strange patterns were painted on the walls. "These are snow crystals from all around the world. Each one has a different shape." Shizuku explained kindly.

次つぎの 部屋へやには、大おおきな 氷こおりの 泉いずみが ありました。 水みずは 虹色にじいろに かがやいています。 「この 泉いずみの 水みずを 飲のむと、すてきな 夢ゆめが 見みられるのよ」 ユキは 両手りょうてで すくって、一口ひとくち 飲のんでみました。 甘あまくて 冷つめたくて、とても おいしい 味あじでした。In the next room, there was a large frozen fountain. The water sparkled in rainbow colors. "If you drink the water from this fountain, you will have wonderful dreams." Yuki scooped some with both hands and took a small sip. It tasted sweet and cold, absolutely delicious.

「次つぎは お城しろの 一番いちばん 高たかいところに 行いきましょう」 シズクが らせん階段かいだんを 上のぼりはじめました。 ユキも あとを ついていきます。 階段かいだんを 上のぼりきると、展望台てんぼうだいに つきました。 そこからは 真っ白まっしろな 世界せかいが 広ひろがっていました。"Now, let's go to the highest place in the castle." Shizuku began climbing a spiral staircase. Yuki followed right behind her. When they reached the top, they arrived at an observation deck. From there, a pure white world spread out before them.

「すごい。ここから お空そらが 見みえるの？」 「ええ。夜よるに なると お星ほしさまも 見みえるのよ」 二人ふたりは 展望台てんぼうだいに こしかけて、静しずかに お空そらを 見上みあげました。 大おおきな お月つきさまが やさしく 光ひかっています。 きらきら またたく 星ほしたちが、まるで ダイヤモンドみたい。"Amazing! Can you see the sky from here?" "Yes. And when night comes, you can see the stars too." The two sat down on the observation deck and quietly looked up at the sky. A big moon was shining gently. The twinkling stars looked just like diamonds.

「きれい……」 ユキは うっとりと つぶやきました。 シズクは そっと ユキの 肩かたに よりそいました。 しばらくすると、ユキの 目めが 少すこしずつ とろんと してきました。 温あたたかな ねむけが 体からだを つつんでいきます。"So beautiful..." Yuki murmured dreamily. Shizuku gently leaned against Yuki's shoulder. After a while, Yuki's eyes began to grow heavy. A warm sleepiness wrapped around her body.

「そろそろ お家うちに 帰かえる 時間じかんね」 シズクが やさしく ささやきました。 「また 遊あそびに きてもいい？」 「もちろんよ。雪ゆきが 降ふる日ひに 窓まどを 開あけて 待まっていてね。わたしが むかえに 行いくから」"It's almost time to go home." Shizuku whispered softly. "Can I come play again?" "Of course. On snowy days, open your window and wait for me. I will come to pick you up."

シズクが そっと おでこに キスを してくれました。 すると ユキの 体からだは ふわりと ういて、光ひかに つつまれながら もとの 大きさおおきさに 戻もどっていきました。 気きがつくと、ユキは 温あたたかい ベッドの 中なかにいました。 手てのひらには とけかけた 雪ゆきの花はなが 残のこっています。Shizuku gently kissed Yuki's forehead. Then Yuki's body floated up softly, and wrapped in light, she returned to her normal size. When she opened her eyes, Yuki was in her warm bed. In the palm of her hand, a half-melted snowflake remained.

「夢ゆめ……じゃないよね」 窓まどの 外そとでは、まだ 静しずかに 雪ゆきが 降ふっています。 ユキは にっこり 笑わらって 目めを とじました。 ふわふわの おふとんの 中なかで、氷こおりの お城しろと シズクの 笑い声わらいごえを 思い出おもいだしながら、ユキは すてきな 夢ゆめの 世界せかいへ 旅立たびだちました。"That wasn't a dream... was it?" Outside the window, snow was still falling quietly. Yuki smiled and closed her eyes. Snuggled in her fluffy blanket, remembering the ice castle and Shizuku's laughter, Yuki set off on a journey to a wonderful land of dreams.
