ひかりのこルナとにじのはしのむこうLuna the Light Child and Beyond the Rainbow Bridge

夜空よぞらには、きらきらと輝かがやく星ほしがたくさんありました。In the night sky, there were many twinkling stars.

その星ほしの間あいだを飛とびまわる、小ちいさな光ひかりの子こがいました。名前なまえはルナといいます。ルナは、やわらかな金色きんいろの光ひかりに包つつまれた女おんなの子こで、ふわふわと輝かがやく羽はねを持もっていました。Flying among those stars was a little child of light. Her name was Luna. Luna was a girl wrapped in soft golden light, with fluffy, glowing wings.

夜よるになると空そらを飛とんで、眠ねむれない子こどもたちのところへ光ひかりを届とどけるのが、ルナの大切たいせつな仕事しごとでした。When night came, she would fly through the sky to bring light to children who could not sleep. This was Luna's very important job.

ある夜よるのこと、ルナは遠とおくの空そらに、今いままで見みたことのない美うつくしい虹にじの橋はしを見みつけました。One night, Luna spotted a beautiful rainbow bridge in the distant sky that she had never seen before.

「あの橋はしの向むこうには、何なにがあるのかな？」"I wonder what's on the other side of that bridge?"

ルナは、きらきら光ひかりる羽はねをはばたかせて、虹にじの橋はしに向むかって飛とんでいきました。虹にじの橋はしは、赤あか、オレンジ、黄色きいろ、緑みどり、青あお、藍あい、紫むらさきの七ななつの色いろでできていました。Luna flapped her sparkling wings and flew toward the rainbow bridge. The rainbow bridge was made of seven colors: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and purple.

足あしをのせると、ふわふわとやわらかく、まるでわたあめの上うえを歩あるいているようでした。When she stepped on it, it was soft and fluffy, as if she were walking on cotton candy.

「わあ、あったかい」"Wow, it's so warm!"

虹にじの橋はしは、太陽たいようの光ひかりをたくさん集あつめているので、歩あるくとぽかぽかと体からだが温あたたまりました。The rainbow bridge had gathered lots of sunlight, so walking on it made her body feel all warm and cozy.

橋はしを渡わたっていくと、不思議ふしぎな音おとが聞きこえてきました。りんりん、ちりんちりん。As she crossed the bridge, she heard a mysterious sound. Ring ring, jingle jingle.

「誰だれかいるのかな？」"Is someone there?"

ルナが声こえのする方ほうへ進すすむと、虹にじの橋はしの真ん中まんなかで、小ちいさな女おんなの子こが泣ないていました。Luna followed the sound and found a little girl crying in the middle of the rainbow bridge.

「どうしたの？」"What's wrong?"

ルナがやさしくたずねると、女おんなの子こは涙なみだをふきながら言いいました。When Luna asked gently, the girl wiped her tears and said:

「わたし、コトっていうの。虹にじの国くにから遊あそびに来きたんだけど、帰り道かえりみちがわからなくなっちゃったの」"My name is Koto. I came from the Rainbow Land to play, but I lost my way back home."

コトは、虹にじ色いろの髪かみをした女おんなの子こでした。涙なみだがぽろぽろとこぼれるたびに、小ちいさな虹にじのしずくになって落おちていきます。Koto was a girl with rainbow-colored hair. Every time her tears fell, they turned into tiny rainbow droplets.

「大丈夫だいじょうぶだよ。わたしがいっしょに帰り道かえりみちを探さがしてあげる」"It's okay. I'll help you find your way home."

ルナは、コトの手てをそっとにぎりました。ルナの手てからは、温あたたかい光ひかりがこぼれて、コトの手てをやさしく包つつみました。Luna gently held Koto's hand. Warm light spilled from Luna's hand and wrapped softly around Koto's hand.

「本当ほんとう？ありがとう！」"Really? Thank you!"

コトの顔かおに、ぱあっと笑顔えがおが広ひろがりました。涙なみだでぬれたほっぺたが、虹にじ色いろにきらきらと輝かがやきました。A bright smile spread across Koto's face. Her tear-stained cheeks sparkled with rainbow colors.

二人ふたりは手てをつないで、虹にじの橋はしの向むこうへ歩あるいていきました。The two held hands and walked beyond the rainbow bridge.

橋はしを渡わたり終おえると、そこには見みたこともない美うつくしい国くにが広ひろがっていました。When they finished crossing the bridge, a beautiful land they had never seen before stretched out before them.

空そらには七ななつの色いろの雲くもがふわふわと浮うかび、花はなびらは一枚一枚いちまいいちまいがちがう色いろに輝かがやいています。Fluffy clouds of seven colors floated in the sky, and each flower petal glowed in a different color.

草くさむらには、虹にじ色いろのちょうちょうがひらひらと舞まい、どこからかあまいお花はなの香かおりがただよってきました。Rainbow butterflies fluttered in the grass, and a sweet floral scent drifted from somewhere.

「わあ、きれい！こんなすてきな国くに、初はじめて見みた！」"Wow, how beautiful! I've never seen such a wonderful place before!"

ルナは思おもわず声こえを上うえげました。Luna couldn't help but cry out in wonder.

「ここが虹にじの国くによ。でも、わたしの家いえはもっと奥おくにあるの」"This is Rainbow Land. But my house is even further inside."

コトが遠とおくを指ゆびさしました。七ななつの色いろに輝かがやく大きな木きが見みえます。Koto pointed into the distance. A big tree glowing in seven colors could be seen.

虹にじ色いろの道みちを進すすんでいくと、途中とちゅうで大きな水みずたまりに出会であいました。As they walked along the rainbow path, they came upon a big puddle.

水みずたまりの中なかには、虹にじ色いろの魚さかなたちが泳およいでいます。うろこの一枚一枚いちまいいちまいがちがう色いろで、まるで宝石ほうせきのようでした。Rainbow-colored fish were swimming in the puddle. Each scale was a different color, just like jewels.

「あら、コトちゃん。お帰りなさい」"Oh my, Koto. Welcome back."

魚さかなの一匹いっぴきが水面すいめんから顔かおを出だして言いいました。One of the fish popped up from the water's surface and spoke.

「レイおばあちゃん！わたし、迷子まいごになっちゃって、この子こが助たすけてくれたの」"Grandma Rei! I got lost, and this girl helped me!"

コトがうれしそうに言いいました。Koto said happily.

レイおばあちゃんと呼よばれた魚さかなは、にっこりとほほえみました。長ながい虹にじ色いろのひげがゆらゆらとゆれています。The fish called Grandma Rei smiled warmly. Her long rainbow-colored whiskers swayed gently.

「まあ、なんてやさしい子こ。光ひかりの子こさん、コトを助たすけてくれてありがとう」"My, what a kind child. Light child, thank you for helping Koto."

「レイおばあちゃん、コトちゃんの家いえはどこですか？」"Grandma Rei, where is Koto's house?"

ルナがたずねると、レイおばあちゃんは水面すいめんから大きなしゃぼん玉を作つくりました。When Luna asked, Grandma Rei made a big bubble from the water's surface.

しゃぼん玉は、とうめいな虹にじ色いろに輝かがやいて、きらきらと光ひかりっています。The bubble glowed with transparent rainbow colors, sparkling and shining.

「このしゃぼん玉についていきなさい。コトの家いえまで案内あんないしてくれるわ」"Follow this bubble. It will guide you to Koto's house."

しゃぼん玉は、ふわふわと輝かがやきながら、二人ふたりの前まえをゆっくりと進すすんでいきます。The bubble floated gently ahead of them, glowing softly.

「レイおばあちゃん、ありがとう！」"Thank you, Grandma Rei!"

二人ふたりはしゃぼん玉を追おいかけて、虹にじ色いろの野原のはらを走はしりました。野原のはらには、虹にじ色いろのたんぽぽや、虹にじ色いろのシロツメクサが咲さいていました。The two chased after the bubble and ran through the rainbow meadow. The meadow was filled with rainbow dandelions and rainbow clover.

風かぜが吹ふくと、花はなびらがひらひらと舞まい上うえがって、まるで色いろとりどりの雪ゆきが降ふっているようでした。When the wind blew, flower petals fluttered up, looking like colorful snow falling.

「きれいだね」"It's so beautiful."

「うん、虹にじの国くには、いつもこうなの。でも、ルナちゃんの光ひかりも、とってもきれいだよ」"Yes, Rainbow Land is always like this. But Luna, your light is very beautiful too."

コトはルナを見上みあげてにっこりしました。Koto looked up at Luna and smiled.

やがて、しゃぼん玉は大きな虹にじ色いろの木きの前まえで止とまりました。Soon, the bubble stopped in front of a big rainbow tree.

「ここがわたしの家いえ！」"This is my house!"

コトが喜よろこんで叫さけびました。Koto shouted with joy.

虹にじ色いろの木きには、たくさんの小ちいさな家いえがついていて、それぞれの窓まどから温あたたかい光ひかりがもれていました。木きの枝えだには、虹にじ色いろの葉っぱはっぱがさらさらとゆれています。The rainbow tree had many little houses attached to it, and warm light shone from each window. Rainbow leaves rustled on the tree's branches.

「コト！どこに行いっていたの？心配しんぱいしたのよ！」"Koto! Where have you been? I was so worried!"

木きの中なかから、コトのお母さんが駆かけ出だしてきました。Koto's mother came running out from inside the tree.

「ごめんなさい、お母さん。虹にじの橋はしで遊あそんでいたら、迷子まいごになっちゃったの。でも、この子こが助たすけてくれたんだよ」"I'm sorry, Mother. I was playing on the rainbow bridge and got lost. But this girl helped me."

コトがルナを紹介しょうかいしました。Koto introduced Luna.

「まあ、光ひかりの子こさん。本当ほんとうにありがとう。うちの子こを助たすけてくれて」"Oh, child of light. Thank you so much for helping my daughter."

コトのお母さんは、ルナの手てをやさしくにぎりました。Koto's mother gently held Luna's hand.

「お礼れいに、特別とくべつなものをあげましょう」"Let me give you something special as thanks."

コトのお母さんは、家いえの中なかから、きらきら光ひかりる小ちいさなびんを持もってきました。Koto's mother brought out a small, sparkling bottle from inside the house.

びんの中なかには、虹にじ色いろの光ひかりがゆらゆらと輝かがやいています。Inside the bottle, rainbow light glowed and shimmered.

「これは虹にじのしずくよ。この光ひかりがあれば、どんな暗い夜よるでも、子こどもたちにやさしい夢ゆめを届とどけられるの」"This is rainbow dew. With this light, you can bring gentle dreams to children even on the darkest nights."

ルナは、びんを大切たいせつに胸むねに抱だきました。Luna held the bottle close to her heart.

「ありがとうございます。大切たいせつにします」"Thank you so much. I will treasure it."

「ルナちゃん、また遊あそびに来きてね。今度こんどはいっしょに虹にじの国くにを冒険ぼうけんしよう」"Luna, please come visit again. Next time, let's explore Rainbow Land together."

コトがルナの手てをぎゅっとにぎりました。Koto squeezed Luna's hand tightly.

「うん、きっとまた来きるね。約束やくそくだよ」"Yes, I'll definitely come back. It's a promise."

ルナとコトは、小指こゆびと小指こゆびをからめて、指ゆびきりげんまんをしました。Luna and Koto linked their little fingers and made a pinky promise.

ルナは虹にじの橋はしを渡わたって、夜空よぞらへと帰っていきました。虹にじのしずくのびんは、ルナの胸むねの中なかでやさしく輝かがやいています。Luna crossed the rainbow bridge and returned to the night sky. The bottle of rainbow dew glowed gently against her heart.

それからルナは、虹にじのしずくの光ひかりを使つかって、眠ねむれない子こどもたちのところへ、もっともっとやさしい夢ゆめを届とどけられるようになりました。From then on, Luna used the light from the rainbow dew to bring even gentler dreams to children who could not sleep.
